FAQs

Who is eligible to receive scholarships?

The children of active Greenwich Police Officers. They must be enrolled as full-time students and maintain an academic GPA of 2.75 or better.

Why should I donate to this fund?
Not only is this fund helping the children of our dedicated police officers, it is an investment in our department’s future. This year, we have eight GPD officers who were recipients of this scholarship funding. We take great pride in our ROI.

Do the applicants receive other financial aid?

All the children of active Greenwich Police Officers are eligible to apply for student loans or other scholarship programs to assist with the cost of college tuition.

How is the scholarship amount determined?

We give as much as we can. Every few years, the Board of Directors re-assess scholarship amounts in light of the current average tuition fees. A student who commutes will always get half the amount granted to one who boards at school.

How much of the Fund’s money is used for other than scholarship awards?

Virtually none, as the Fund is administered on a voluntary basis. Other than very minimal administrative costs, the Fund’s money is disbursed exclusively for scholarships.
